Job Title: Hospital Security Guard – Camp Humphreys, South Korea

Location: U.S. Army Garrison Camp Humphreys, South Korea

Job Overview:

The Hospital Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors at a medical facility located on Camp Humphreys. The Security Guard enforces security protocols to protect hospital property and ensure a secure environment within a U.S. Army installation. This role requires sound judgment and the ability to respond effectively to incidents and emergencies in a healthcare setting, while operating within the unique requirements of an overseas military community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to duty in the appropriate uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Conduct security patrols throughout hospital buildings, grounds, and designated areas within Camp Humphreys.
  • Enforce hospital and base regulations to prevent security breaches and unauthorized access.
  • Respond to medical and security emergencies, exercising discretion in determining whether to intervene, request assistance, maintain control of the situation, or escalate to military police or hospital leadership.
  • Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV), alarms, and access control systems to detect and respond to security threats.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to U.S. military personnel, family members, civilian staff, and visitors.
  • Control access to restricted areas such as emergency departments, pharmacy storage, and sensitive medical areas.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and other documentation as required by hospital or base protocols.
  • Must be available to work extended hours, night shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

Professional Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and meet Department of Defense (DoD) overseas employment requirements.
  • Must hold a valid Security Officer License (or equivalent) as required by U.S. regulations and/or Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) policies.
  • Prior security experience, preferably in a military, government, or hospital environment.
  • Must obtain and maintain a background suitability/adjudication through the Department of Justice (DOJ) or appropriate federal agency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate situations calmly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Army installation procedures and hospital security protocols is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and sensitivity to patient confidentiality preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess visual and hearing acuity sufficient to monitor security equipment and respond to incidents.
  • Physically capable of responding quickly to emergencies and assisting with disturbances.
  • Must meet physical fitness standards required for duty at Camp Humphreys.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed both indoors in a hospital environment and outdoors on Camp Humphreys, often in varied weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to hospital-related risks including bodily fluids and stressful situations.
  • Must be prepared for extended shifts and be available for duty on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, background investigation, and meet SOFA and DoD overseas employment requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain any additional clearances required by Camp Humphreys security protocols.
  • CPR/AED certification preferred or must be willing to obtain upon hire.
